The upper body rotation on the machine is an exercise to train the abdominal muscles. It mainly trains the lateral abdominal muscles (obliquus abdominis).
Sit on the seat of the machine and position your feet under the foot roll. Pass the bars over your upper body and hold on to them with both hands.

Turn your upper body to the left by tensing your left lateral abdominal muscles. Exhale as you do so.

Slowly rotate your upper body back to the starting position. Keep your lateral abdominal muscles tensed in this position. Breathe in as you do so.

One repetition has now been completed. Repeat this process for the specified number of repetitions, first with your left side and then with your right side.
Tip
Sit with your bottom all the way back so that your lower back is in contact with the backrest throughout the exercise. Your abdominal muscles are tensed throughout the exercise.
